Improve quality of life
To increase the quality of life and comfort in the lives of our customers, by ensuring that the medicines they need are available, affordable, and trusted.
About
LHC Pharmaceuticals exists to make quality medicine available, affordable, and accountable for the communities we serve across Southern Africa.
Most pharmaceutical companies start with a molecule and work toward a market. We did the opposite.
In 2006, the founders of LHC opened a pharmacy. Not metaphorically, literally. They stood at a counter, dispensed prescriptions, and learned which medicines patients could afford and which they could not, which suppliers delivered on time and which did not, which regulatory steps moved fast and which moved slowly.
By 2009 we were running pharmaceutical wholesale and distribution operations. We learned the cost of carrying inventory across borders, the realities of cold-chain logistics in southern Africa, the pricing structures that allowed independent pharmacies to survive against the chains.
By 2012, armed with that ground-up understanding, we registered LHC Pharmaceuticals (Pty) Ltd as a SAHPRA Marketing Authorisation Holder. We hold market authorisations for dossiers sourced from reputable pharmaceutical companies worldwide. LHC has registered more than seventy product lines with SAHPRA, from generic statins and antibiotics to specialised therapies for malaria, tuberculosis, and HIV. Twenty-five more dossiers are currently under active review. We have served five South African provinces and partnered with KRKA (Slovenia), Macleods, VS International, Alveta, and CSIR , with SADC expansion as our strategic pipeline.
Our "end-to-the-beginning" approach is, we think, the reason we have lasted. We did not learn the supply chain from a textbook.
Our vision
To increase the quality of life and comfort in the lives of our customers, by ensuring that the medicines they need are available, affordable, and trusted.
To restore and maintain the balance of life and health for the communities we serve, across the SADC and across socioeconomic lines.
To be leaders in pharmaceutical manufacturing and distribution across Southern Africa, deliberately and accountably.
Mission
To become leaders in the South African and African pharmaceutical industry, encompassing medicine ownership, distribution, and retail.
What guides the work
We name the partner. We name the country. We name the molecule. Vague is the enemy of trust.
Every batch traceable, every claim reviewed, every dossier registered. Trust is built one product at a time.
Quality medicine should not be a privilege of geography or income. We build channels that close those gaps.
In every country we operate in, we partner with local companies, to transfer skills, knowledge, and ownership.
